Overview

Inside the project

As of April 2026 it reports roughly 15 hectares restored and 50,000 seedlings planted, including 10,000 specifically to offset the university's own COP27 delegation travel.

The centre describes the project as integrating local participation across the entire restoration cycle, from seed propagation and planting to developing mangrove-based economic ventures, and built Egypt's first mangrove-focused GIS monitoring platform.
