Changelog

What changed, and when.

Most reference directories never tell you when they were last touched. This one keeps its maintenance in the open: every entry the hub adds, re-checks, updates or fixes is dated here, and individual records carry a “last checked” stamp.

Expanded-scope crawl: a new Indices section plus depth, breadth and reach across ten directories

A source-anchored expansion pass across four axes. New section: Indices & benchmarks, the flagship rankings the field is measured by (ND-GAIN, the Climate Change Performance Index, the Climate Risk Index, the Environmental Performance Index, INFORM, WorldRiskIndex, the Energy Transition Index and the Ocean Health Index), each stamped with its latest edition and reference year, referenced not blended. Depth in the under-covered stakeholder and capital sections: 13 funders (Global-South national and regional climate funds such as the Amazon Fund, Indonesia's BPDLH, Rwanda's FONERWA, CAFI and the Congo Basin Blue Fund), 8 project developers (clean-cooking and energy-access originators like BURN, SunCulture, Sistema.bio and Husk, alongside restoration), 6 expert directories (a Global-South and gender lens) and 4 accredited validation and verification bodies. Breadth into new domains: clean-energy transition (IRENASTAT, Ember, the Global Solar and Wind Atlases, the coal-plant tracker, Tracking SDG7), adaptation and resilience (ThinkHazard!, the UNEP Adaptation Gap Report, the Global Center on Adaptation, Global Shield) and oceans and water (the Global Mangrove Alliance, the blue-carbon partnership, the Ocean Panel, the coral-reef fund, the Global Water Partnership). Reach: 5 date-verified Global-South convenings for 2026 (the Asia-Pacific and LAC sustainable-development forums, GLF Africa, UNCCD COP17, the Carbon Markets Africa Summit) and 6 recent dated Signal items on Article 6, integrity and MRV. Every record carries a corroboration rating and a checked link; below-bar candidates were parked in the crawl ledger, not dropped.

Freshness pass: re-checked every link, re-anchored the calendar, added one Signal item

Ran the automated link-checker across all 151 external URLs: all now resolve. Fixed the one dead link — Océanium de Dakar's own domain (oceanium-dakar.com) has gone offline, so its Developers entry now points to the live Livelihoods Funds programme page that documents the Sine Saloum and Casamance mangrove restoration (the NGO remains active through partners). Re-anchored the events calendar to 3 July 2026 and re-confirmed near-term dates, including the imminent IETA Asia Climate Summit in Hong Kong (7-9 July, first time in the city). Added one Signal item: the EU nature-credits expert group reaching its mid-2026 milestone on registry and MRV design under the Commission's 2025 Roadmap towards Nature Credits.

AddedFrameworks2

Closed gaps found by auditing the hub against a partner lead list

Cross-checked every solution, standard and organisation referenced in a partner's climate lead list against the hub. Added the Paris Agreement Crediting Mechanism (Article 6.4) to Frameworks, the UN successor to the CDM whose registry is being operationalised, which we had only carried as an "Article 6" glossary term. Enriched the Terraformation entry to name its free, open-source Terraware platform (used by 1,140+ organisations in 104 countries) rather than describing it only as generic "tools". Two leads were deliberately left out and logged as scope calls: Caradonna (a Swiss regional forest-data tool, outside the Global-South scope) and Karbon-X's retail offset app (its Global-South developer arm ALLCOT is already listed; the "Mercury" platform is not publicly documented).

AddedProjects43

Expanded Projects from 46 to 89 with a registry-anchored crawl

After a project developer flagged that a Verra-listed reforestation project was missing, we re-ran project discovery registry-first (Verra, Gold Standard, Plan Vivo, ART TREES and aggregators) rather than web-search-first. Added 43 first-party project profiles, nearly tripling reforestation and ARR coverage and closing the biggest gaps: Cote d'Ivoire (THANRY Tiapleu, Adiake blue carbon), the registry-listed blue carbon we had missed (Papariko VCS 3660, Lep-lep VCS 3885, Yagasu VCS 1493, Thor Heyerdahl VCS 1764), West Africa and the Sahel and Great Green Wall (Tond Tenga, Niger Acacia, GAMS Sudan, Regreening Africa, SURAGGWA), the East African highlands (Humbo, EthioTrees, KACP, Hongera, Nguru), and marquee REDD+ and ARR worldwide (Makame, Ntakata, Lower Zambezi, Brujula Verde, Panna, Khasi Hills, Nepal Terai Arc). The atlas gained 14 new countries.

AddedDirectories10

Added carbon-integrity disclosure references from a methodology crawl

From a deep crawl of carbon-project disclosure and rating practice: to Frameworks, Plan Vivo, the Carbon Credit Quality Initiative, the Oxford Principles for offsetting, the IFC Performance Standards and the Tropical Forest Credit Integrity Guide (a new Safeguards and E&S group); to Datasets, CarbonPlan OffsetsDB and the Climate Action Data Trust; to Trackers, the ICVCM Assessment Status register, the Climate Focus VCM Dashboard and the SBTi Target Dashboard.

AddedDatasets2

Catalogued Carbon Brief, including Project Cosmos

Added Project Cosmos, Carbon Brief’s interactive map of the climate-research literature (1.8M publications, 40M citations, the Cosmos 500), to Datasets, and Carbon Brief itself to Think tanks. The organisation was previously in the hub only via its Global South Climate Database in Experts.

AddedEvents7

Captured the full IETA Climate Summit series

Added IETA’s regional carbon-market circuit to the calendar, the European, Asia and North America Climate Summits plus the Tokyo and MENA Carbon Market Dialogues and the South Africa Carbon Market Forum, alongside the World Bank’s Innovate4Climate. IETA itself was added to Coalitions, with a note on its market insights.

AddedEvents8

Added a Global-South-inclusive events calendar

A date-led calendar of climate convenings weighted to the tropics and emerging markets, split into upcoming and earlier, from COP31 and Climate Week NYC to African Energy Week, Mining Indaba and the regional climate weeks. Dates are point-in-time and link out to each official page.

AddedDirectories12

Added Service providers and Expert directories

Two final reference sections: the assurance layer (accredited validation and verification bodies, plus advisers) and a curated set of expert directories with a Global-South and diversity lens, led by the Carbon Brief Global South Climate Database.

AddedBuyers15

Added the demand side: Buyers & investors

A new section mapping who pays for climate outcomes: corporate buyers, buyer coalitions, advance-market commitments, investors and the deal trackers. Disclosed signals only, not exhaustive, and not a leaderboard, in keeping with how opaque this corner is.

AddedDirectories29

Added Trackers, Think tanks, Coalitions and Initiatives

Four more reference sections pointing to the wider field: policy & regulation trackers, research institutes and think tanks, coalitions & alliances, and multi-country initiatives. 29 external resources, every link checked.

AddedDirectories52

Added the reference directories

Four new sections pointing to the wider field: open Datasets, Frameworks & standards, Funders, and the Portals this hub builds on. 52 external resources, every link checked, each marked as a resource the hub points to rather than re-hosts.

UpdatedPositioning

Repositioned as a curated, maintained climate map

Reframed the hub as a curated, maintained map of the climate economy across the Global South: the projects, solutions, data and players, brought together and kept current, rather than a feature of any one product.

LaunchedFreshness

Freshness layer and public changelog

Added per-record "last checked" stamps with link-health, this public changelog of hub edits, and a maintenance commitment: the reference is reviewed and refreshed at least monthly.

VerifiedSolutions10

Source-checked the hand-authored solution profiles

The ten seed solution profiles were re-read against their primary sources and stamped as checked. The crawl-derived entries remain unstamped until each is individually re-checked.

AddedContribute

Opened the hub to corrections and additions

Added a Contribute page so anyone can suggest a missing project or solution, contradict a fact with evidence, or subscribe to Signal updates. The map is hand-built and point-in-time, so it improves by being corrected.

UpdatedDirectories

Cross-filtered the faceted directories

Every directory now shows counts that reflect the other active filters, disables options that would dead-end, and exposes removable active-filter tokens, so two-level filtering never returns an empty surprise.

AddedSignal54

Published the source-rated Signal feed

A dated feed of what is moving across the market: funding, acquisitions, new methodologies and registry tech. Each item carries an evidence rating, the hub’s trust signature.

LaunchedClimate Hub

First publication of the Climate Hub

Projects on the ground, the climate-data solutions that measure them, a glossary and an atlas, brought together as one navigable reference for the Global-South climate economy.
