Digital carbon
The registries, digital MRV and Article 6 machinery the carbon markets run on: who operates a platform you can reach, who has opened it to other software, who is still building, and who has approved a digital-MRV methodology. Each claim is held to what its own cited source says.
| Body | Registry | Programmatic access | Approved digital-MRV methodologies | Sources |

| Verra (Verified Carbon Standard)Crediting standard · Voluntary, globalProfiled on this hub | Live registry | The rebuilt registry went live on 27 July 2026, connected to the Verra Project Hub. There is no developer interface today. Verra’s own wording is that “In a future update, the new registry will also support enhanced Article 6 functionality and data Application Programming Interface (API) services”, with transaction-ready API connectivity in a later phase. | None. Verra runs a digital-MRV pilot for high-frequency issuance and approved its first credits under it in February 2026, and VM0048 is a REDD methodology, not a digital-MRV one. Neither is an approved digital-MRV methodology. | Verra: next-generation registryVerra: first credits under the dMRV pilotChecked 2026-09-17 |
| Gold StandardCrediting standard · Voluntary, globalProfiled on this hub | Live registry | The Impact Registry is live and its own page documents no API; a web application is the only access route on it. Gold Standard named Trovio in May 2026 to build an API-first replacement on the CorTenX platform, planned for Q4 2026. That is a stated target, not a shipped interface. | None. | Puro.earthCrediting standard · Voluntary, durable CO2 removal, global | Live, documented API | The only body on this map whose API claim can be checked by reading its own developer documentation. A public portal at docs.api.puro.earth covers three interfaces: the Registry API for machine-readable access to the public registry (January 2025), the MyPuro API for account and CORC operations, and dMRV Connect for external monitoring platforms (December 2025). | None. dMRV Connect is plumbing between platforms, not a methodology, and no approved digital-MRV methodology was found. | Puro.earth API documentationPuro.earth: Registry API and MyPuro APIPuro.earth: dMRV ConnectChecked 2026-09-17 |
| Integrity Council for the Voluntary Carbon MarketCrediting standard · Integrity body, globalProfiled on this hub | None | It assesses programmes and methodologies and operates no registry. It publishes a running assessment-status table, which carries more than one “last updated” stamp at a time. | None. Its 44 approvals are Core Carbon Principles approvals, and not one of them is a digital-MRV approval. | Global Carbon CouncilCrediting standard · Qatar, global; Global South | Stated intent | No public API documentation. What GCC runs instead is a Digital MRV Hub: a published, two-track approval process for digital-MRV solution providers covering satellite imagery, ground sensors, drones, smart meters, SCADA and AI analytics, with approvals valid for three years. Next Green Tech Ltd. is listed as a provisional provider with its TRACE platform, and Carbon AI is under review. | The closest thing on this map to a named digital-MRV-enabled methodology: GCC’s own hub names EAP001, “Methodology for electrification of off-grid communities”, as digital-MRV-supporting. | CercarbonoCrediting standard · Bogotá, Colombia; Latin America and global | None | Not established either way. | Climate Action ReserveCrediting standard · United States and internationalProfiled on this hub | None | A negative result, stated as one: its own site carries no mention of an API, developer resources, digital MRV or registry modernisation, on a site whose news runs to September 2026. | None found. | Climate Action ReserveChecked 2026-09-17 |
| ACR, ART and STEPS (Environmental Resources Trust)Registry operator · United States-based programmes, global projectsProfiled on this hub | Live registry | Three programmes, not two: ACR, ART and STEPS all migrated onto ICE GreenTrace at its launch on 22 June 2026. The APIs are intent, not shipped. The launch release does not mention them at all; the commitment that the new ACR Registry “will include application programming interfaces (APIs)” is a January 2025 future-tense sentence, and it is on ACR’s page only. | None. | Climate Action Data TrustMeta-registry · Data layer between registries, global | Live, documented API | Data Model 2.0 was released on 23 October 2025, adding Article 6 Agreed Electronic Format reporting tables and a labels table for credit eligibility. Public API documentation followed, with documentation, a data dictionary and a connectivity deck open for public access and testing. The date on that documentation is given in an ambiguous format on its own site, so no day is printed here. | Not applicable. | Indian Carbon Market, CCTS (BEE and Grid Controller of India)National programme · India, national compliance marketProfiled on this hub | Live registry | The portal at indiancarbonmarket.gov.in is listed on BEE’s own portals page, which names the Grid Controller of India as the registry operator and India’s meta registry for national and international linkages. Not one body on this map has a demonstrated approved digital-MRV methodology. That is the most useful single thing this page carries, and it is the opposite of what most project developers assume. Verra and Gold Standard run pilots. Gold Standard has approved three pilot projects, which is not approving a methodology. The Global Carbon Council approves digital-MRV vendors and names one methodology that supports them, which is the closest anyone comes. The Integrity Council’s forty-four approvals are Core Carbon Principles approvals and none of them is a digital-MRV approval.
How to read the registry column. Live, documented API means the developer documentation is reachable and readable. Live registry means a platform address that resolves, with no documented API. Reported live, no address means the platform is reported operational but no address for it has been found, and the operator’s own site is silent. Stated intent means building, or committed with a date. None means no registry, or a negative result stated as one.
A milestone reached is not a capability delivered, and this map keeps the two apart. Approving a first issuance is not operating a registry. Naming a builder is not shipping a platform. A promise made in one year is not a feature in the next. Ten of these organisations have no profile on this hub yet, and are shown here without one rather than given a type they have not been assigned.
What has happened
Dated events in registry infrastructure, digital MRV, Article 6 and national carbon-market programmes, newest first. Each carries an evidence rating, the hub’s trust signature.
- Registry infrastructure. A registry platform is built, replaced or opened up to other software.
- Digital MRV. Pilots, vendor approvals and the data connections between monitoring platforms and registries.
- Article 6. Bilateral agreements, authorisations and issuances under the Paris Agreement, including its own mechanism.
- National programmes. A state’s own carbon-market programme, its registry, or the tenders it runs.
- Integrity assessment. Decisions by the bodies that assess crediting programmes and methodologies.
TÜV SÜD opens a Global Decarbonisation Centre of Excellence in Singapore
The certification company TÜV SÜD announced a Singapore centre on 9 September 2026 with more than USD 24 million in investment and support from the Economic Development Board, to build a digital MRV ecosystem producing “verification-ready, high-integrity carbon data”. EDB Chairman Png Cheong Boon called it a “valuable addition to Singapore’s carbon services and trading ecosystem”, which is a supporter’s language: TÜV SÜD operates the centre, the statutory board backs it.
Singapore signs its twelfth Article 6 Implementation Agreement, with Lao PDR
Singapore and Lao PDR signed an Implementation Agreement on carbon credits collaboration under Article 6 on 4 September 2026. Singapore’s trade ministry states it is “Singapore’s 12th Implementation Agreement on carbon credits collaboration, and 4th with an ASEAN Member State”, signed by Minister Grace Fu and Lao PDR’s Minister of Agriculture and Environment Dr Linkham Douangsavanh.
Zambia’s national carbon registry is reported operational
Trade press reports that the Government of Zambia launched a fully operational national carbon registry on 11 August 2026, administered by the Zambia Environmental Management Agency and developed with support from the SPAR6C programme, making Zambia “the second African country after Ghana to combine live registry infrastructure with a signed bilateral agreement and a completed transaction”. No platform address has been found and ZEMA’s own site carries nothing on it, so what holds this up is independent reporting rather than a Zambian government page.
Gold Standard and Verra launch a joint corresponding-adjustments reporting tool
The two largest voluntary standards jointly released a Corresponding Adjustments Reporting Tool that “automatically populates the required summary table” host countries submit alongside their 2026 Biennial Transparency Reports under Article 6.2. Verra’s Mandy Rambharos: “Getting corresponding adjustments right is essential to the integrity of Article 6.2.” Gold Standard’s Margaret Kim: “Access to carbon markets depends on countries having the tools and infrastructure to participate with confidence.” Gold Standard’s own page for the launch is a dead address, so this carries one live source.
Cercarbono is approved CCP-Eligible
The Bogotá-headquartered standard Cercarbono was approved CCP-Eligible by the Integrity Council on 4 August 2026, “meeting its Core Carbon Principles for effective governance, tracking, transparency and independent third-party verification”. The Integrity Council’s own status table carries the approval on a separate origin.
Verra replaces its registry, powered by S&P Global Energy
Verra launched a rebuilt registry on 27 July 2026, integrated with its Project Hub so a project can be followed from pipeline listing through validation, issuance, transfer and retirement in one place. It moved “more than 5,900 projects across the full pipeline”, plus “10,500 account holders, 1.4 billion credits, and 125,000 documents”. What it does not yet carry is programmatic access: Verra states that “In a future update, the new registry will also support enhanced Article 6 functionality and data Application Programming Interface (API) services”. This is the largest registry replacement of the period, and both cited pages are Verra’s own.
EU nature-credits expert group reaches its mid-2026 milestone on registry and MRV design
Under the European Commission’s 2025 Roadmap towards Nature Credits, the dedicated expert group entered its mid-2026 phase to deliver the technical criteria and methodological outline for a forthcoming EU nature-credits market, including a digital registry and MRV framework, ahead of the Commission’s 2027 certification and governance package.
ICE launches GreenTrace; the ACR, ART and STEPS programmes migrate onto it
Intercontinental Exchange launched GreenTrace on 22 June 2026 and the Winrock-run ACR, ART and STEPS programmes migrated onto it, moving roughly 437 million serialized credits from 1,162 projects and programs to 857 registry account holders. The launch release does not describe developer APIs; the API commitment appears only in a January 2025 announcement of the then-future migration, on ACR’s own page.
Verra selects three data-service providers to build jurisdictional REDD risk maps
Verra named Agresta, Space Intelligence, and a consortium of TerraCarbon and the Clark Center for Geospatial Analytics to produce the deforestation risk maps VM0048 depends on: Agresta on Argentina and Equateur Province in the DRC, Space Intelligence on the Philippines and Mato Grosso in Brazil, TerraCarbon and Clark CGA on Papua New Guinea and Pará in Brazil. The maps must comply with VMD0055 v1.1 for use under VM0048 v1.0.
Gold Standard names Trovio to build an API-first Impact Registry
Gold Standard named Trovio to build a next-generation Impact Registry on the CorTenX platform, “Built on an API-first architecture” with core functions “from issuance to transfer and retirement, to be accessed through secure, standardised APIs”. The launch is planned for Q4 2026, which is a target Gold Standard has set itself and not something delivered. The page is published 13 May and updated 14 May 2026.
The Integrity Council approves the first mangrove-restoration protocol for the CCP label
The Integrity Council’s May 2026 batch of assessment decisions approved the “Isometric Mangrove Restoration Protocol v1.0” as CCP-Approved, the first blue-carbon protocol to carry the label. The same batch made the Global Carbon Council’s ICVCM Standard v2 CCP-Eligible, read VCS Renewables as “CCP-Approved (Conditional)” under identifier VMR0017, and told ART that both “ART TREES v2.0 - HFLD Crediting Level: Remedial Actions required to methodology” and “ART TREES v2.0 - Removals Crediting Level: Remedial Actions”.
Global Carbon Council becomes the first Global-South programme approved as ICVCM CCP-Eligible
The Qatar-based Global Carbon Council reported ICVCM CCP-Eligibility for GCC 2.0, which it says makes it the only Global-South crediting programme holding both CORSIA accreditation and CCP-Eligibility.
