Ethiopia's climate governance sits atop the Climate Resilient Green Economy (CRGE) Strategy and the Environmental Protection Organs Establishment Proclamation No. 295/2002, whose stated objective is to "formulate policies, strategies, laws and standards, which foster social and economic development in a manner that enhance the welfare of humans and the safety of the environment." Ethiopia's Updated NDC, submitted in July 2021, sets a 68.8% emissions reduction target by 2030 against the business-as-usual scenario, 14% of it unconditional, covering land use and forestry, livestock, energy, waste, industry and managed soils.
