Overview

Inside the project

Site work to date, two well pads, roads, water wells and a pipeline, is described as complete, with the project awaiting a resumed drilling campaign after a 2026 power-purchase-agreement extension and a new convertible-loan commitment from investor Taranis Operations.

Negotiations continue with Ethiopian Electric Power and the Ministry of Finance on tariff terms.

On 18 June 2026, PIDG announced a signed Taranis convertible loan agreement, preceding a prospective US$27 million equity investment. The announcement does not establish completion of that equity investment; the 50 MW first phase and further 100 MW remain development plans.

Objectives

  • Develop a two-phase, 150 MW geothermal plant in the Corbetti Caldera
  • Complete site infrastructure and resume drilling ahead of full development

Approach

  • Development proceeds in two phases (50 MW then 100 MW) under a power-purchase agreement, with site infrastructure built ahead of a drilling campaign.
