Burkina Faso has no dedicated climate-change act. A 2013 amendment to its general environmental framework law was the main legislative vehicle for incorporating climate considerations, and a national climate-policy gap is partly filled by ECOWAS regional instruments. Its Troisième Contribution Déterminée au Niveau National (CDN 3.0), covering 2026 to 2030 and filed with the UNFCCC in January 2026, documents that both the 2015 CDN (an 18.2% reduction target by 2030) and the 2021 CDN (29.42%) fell short of their ambitions because of unfunded conditional projects and delayed resource mobilisation.

Documents Burkina Faso's NDC history (2015: 18.2%; 2021: 29.42% by 2030 vs BAU) before presenting CDN 3.0's own project-based targets for 2026–2030; notes both prior NDCs under-delivered due to unfunded conditional projects and delayed mobilisation.
