Project Yopo

Project Yopo targets degraded land in Colombia’s Vichada department. aDryada and BaumInvest describe complementary roles in project finance and field restoration; current delivery and certification milestones need registry-level confirmation.

Overview

Inside the project

Vichada sits in Colombia's Llanos Orientales, an Amazonian transition zone of vast, sparsely populated plains degraded by decades of extensive cattle grazing and human-induced fires. Project Yopo targets restoration of around 18,000 hectares of this land with native species, with scope to scale further.

aDryada’s co-development announcement assigns on-the-ground restoration to BaumInvest and project structuring, financing and carbon-credit offtake development to aDryada. Its header says June 2026, while the body is dated 19 March 2026 and the linked release is labelled 17 March 2026.

The announcement describes an initial 18,000-hectare target, possible expansion to 40,000 hectares and first credit issuance expected around 2030. These are developer projections. The project-specific planted area and current registry certification status have not been resolved in this check.

Objectives

  • Restore around 18,000 hectares of degraded Vichada plains with native species
  • Rebuild ecological connectivity toward El Tuparro National Park, a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve
  • Deliver long-horizon carbon-removal units under Gold Standard certification
  • Explore biodiversity certificates alongside the carbon-removal credits
  • Secure the site as a formally recognised nature reserve after restoration, backed by an endowment fund for post-crediting permanence

Approach

  • BaumInvest is identified as the field-restoration partner; aDryada leads structuring, financing and development of carbon-credit offtake.
  • The developer describes long-term carbon finance and restoration goals. An announced offtake process is not evidence of a completed sale or issued credits.
