Water is Life, Madagascar

Built and operated originally by Aid4Mada, now developed by Madaprojects, this Gold Standard project has built 10 manual pump wells and 19 solar energy-powered water systems around Toliara since 2018, described by its developer as guaranteeing free and unlimited access to drinking water to over 80,000 people living in isolated rural communities.

Overview

Inside the project

Nationally, over 2,100 children a year die from diarrhoea due to poor water quality, and only 34% of rural Madagascar has basic water access.

This phase of the project is registered for an estimated 10,000 tonnes of CO2e a year within a wider programme the developer puts at 60,000 tonnes.
