ProjectTogo

ProjectTogo is a long-running, Gold Standard certified afforestation programme run by natureOffice GmbH with local partners across Togo's Maritime, Plateaux and Centrale regions. It reports roughly 31,435 ha under management and targets 120,230 ha by 2030. Planting mixes khaya, gmelina, bamboo and cashew to restore degraded land with community benefit-sharing.

Overview

Inside the project

ProjectTogo restores degraded land across three Togolese regions (Maritime, Plateaux and Centrale), operated by natureOffice GmbH together with local partners. The programme is certified under the Gold Standard and has been running for a number of years.

The project reports roughly 31,435 ha currently under management, with a target of 120,230 ha by 2030. Species planted include khaya, gmelina, bamboo and cashew, mixing timber, fast-growing and cash-crop species.

The model emphasises restoration of degraded land alongside community benefit-sharing, framing afforestation as both a carbon and a rural-livelihood intervention.

Objectives

  • Restore degraded land across the Maritime, Plateaux and Centrale regions.
  • Expand from roughly 31,435 ha under management toward 120,230 ha by 2030.
  • Plant a species mix including khaya, gmelina, bamboo and cashew.
  • Deliver Gold Standard certified afforestation outcomes.
  • Share benefits with participating communities.

Approach

  • The programme afforests degraded land with a mix of timber, fast-growing and cash-crop species under Gold Standard certification, which sets its MRV and verification requirements. Community benefit-sharing is built into the operating model alongside carbon delivery.
