Overview

Inside the project

Brujula Verde is a large-scale ARR project run by InverBosques on severely degraded savanna in the Vichada department of Colombia's Orinoco and Llanos region, land shaped by repeated fire and grazing pressure.

The project has planted more than 15,000 hectares to date and is expanding toward a 20,000 hectare footprint, supported by an on-site nursery growing over 15 native species.

In November 2025 BeZero Carbon assigned the project an AA.Pre rating, placing it in the top 4% of rated ARR projects worldwide, a notable independent signal of assessed integrity.

Gold Standard's registry lists Brujula Verde (GS 23254, developer Inverbosques S.A) as a certified project with about 310,058 estimated annual credits and a crediting period from May 2023.

Trafigura’s 11 November 2024 case study names Trafigura and GenZero as financing partners and Inverbosques as the implementation partner. This dated financing account is distinct from subsequent registry and issuance evidence.

Objectives

  • Restore severely degraded savanna affected by fire and grazing through native-species planting.
  • Issue verified carbon removal credits under the Gold Standard registry.
  • Scale native-seedling propagation to support continued planting toward 20,000 hectares.

Approach

  • Plant more than 15 native species raised at an on-site nursery with capacity for up to 20 million seedlings per year.
  • Target severely degraded, fire- and grazing-affected savanna to recover tree cover and soil.
  • Verify and issue removal credits on the Gold Standard registry, with independent BeZero rating providing an integrity check.
