Overview

Inside the project

Azuero is developed by Azuero Reforestación Colectiva with Ponterra. Carbon Streaming’s amended financing account describes Microsoft and Rubicon obligations, an optional further Carbon Streaming contribution, and an offtake covering Carbon Streaming’s received credits through 2040; this is not an offtake for every project credit.

By the developer's figures, the project targets over 6 million trees, more than 300 local jobs, and over $70 million in local benefits across its 30-year life, with a 2025 amendment scaling the restoration target down from an original 10,000 hectares to a minimum of 7,500.

Carbon Streaming’s December 2025 amendment moved expected first issuance to 2029 and made its own further funding optional, while describing continuing obligations for Microsoft and Rubicon. Its August 2026 disclosure reiterates that financing posture. The area and credit forecasts depend on the funding scenario; option exercise was not established in this check.
