What they do

Inside Pixxel

Pixxel operates Firefly, a hyperspectral constellation imaging at around 5m across 250-plus bands, designed to detect biochemical and condition signals that broadband optical sensors miss.

All six Firefly satellites reached orbit in 2025, three in January and three more in August, and are now operating and capturing spectral data on diverse environmental indicators.

The company is India-anchored with explicit Global South positioning and leads a consortium selected by IN-SPACe to help build India’s national EO constellation.

Recent developments

  1. Sep 2026Raised a $100M Series C co-led by Temasek and Seraphim, bringing total funding to $195M, to build the next-generation Honeybee constellation with shortwave-infrared sensing; the first Honeybee satellite is expected in 2027.
  2. Aug 2025Launched the final three Firefly satellites via SpaceX, completing the six-satellite hyperspectral constellation.
  3. Jan 2025Launched the first three Firefly satellites, India’s first private satellite constellation, and extended Series B funding to about $95M total raised.
