CAD Trust
The Climate Action Data Trust is the open metadata layer that links carbon registries to prevent double counting, governed by the World Bank, IETA and Singapore, and its Data Model v2.0 public API, released in May 2025, is the single most important interoperability target for a system of record.
CAD Trust
Inside CAD Trust
CAD Trust, the successor to the World Bank Climate Warehouse, is a decentralised metadata layer that harmonises and publishes data from connected carbon registries so credits can be tracked across systems.
It announced Data Model v2.0 on 28 May 2025, refining entity tables, removing redundancies and aligning with Article 6 reporting using the Agreed Electronic Format, with public API documentation open for testing.
Rollout across the 12 connected registries is underway with full transition to v2.0 expected by Q2 2026, and the API lets any organisation download the full harmonised dataset.
How Straatos integrates CAD Trust
The keystone interoperability layer; aligning to its open data model is the highest-leverage integration for a host-don’t-absorb system of record.
Adopt the data model
Map Straatos project and unit metadata onto CAD Trust Data Model v2.0 so records are interoperable with every connected registry by default.
Consume the public API
Pull the harmonised cross-registry dataset through the v2.0 public API to validate that credits are not double counted.
Future-proof to Article 6
Because v2.0 aligns with the Agreed Electronic Format, schema alignment positions Straatos for Article 6 reporting contexts.
Recent developments
- May 2025Released Data Model v2.0 with public API documentation, aligned to Article 6 AEF; rollout to 12 connected registries underway through Q2 2026.
