THANRY Tiapleu Afforestation
Thanry Group, a private timber and reforestation company, holds a 50-year forest concession from the Ivorian State over the Tiapleu classified forest, which has lost roughly 85% of its plant cover. The project proposes to afforest 15,000 ha within a 28,000 ha concession and plant more than 3,000,000 trees. The developer reports an investment of about 50 million EUR and a target of 5,233,104 tCO2 over 2024 to 2051.

Inside the project
The Tiapleu classified forest, near Man and Danané in western Côte d'Ivoire, is heavily degraded, with the developer reporting a loss of about 85% of its plant cover. Thanry Group operates the site under a 50-year concession agreement with the State and plans to afforest 15,000 ha of the 28,000 ha area at a density of roughly 208 trees per hectare, yielding more than 3,000,000 trees.
Thanry's project page says validation and verification will follow the VCS standard (version 4.4) through an independent auditor, and names no VCS project ID. The carbon and certification figures on this page are the developer's own.
Thanry frames the work around agroforestry integration, community involvement, and digital MRV. The stated carbon target is 5,233,104 tCO2 over the 2024 to 2051 crediting period, with an investment figure of about 50 million EUR, again as reported by the developer.
Objectives
- Afforest 15,000 ha within the 28,000 ha Tiapleu concession.
- Plant more than 3,000,000 trees at roughly 208 trees per hectare.
- Deliver a developer-stated 5,233,104 tCO2 of removals over 2024 to 2051.
- Integrate agroforestry and community involvement into the restoration model.
- Complete Verra VCS certification (currently developer-stated as in progress).
Approach
- The project combines afforestation and agroforestry on degraded concession land with community involvement and digital MRV as described by the developer. Verra VCS certification is reported as in progress, and the carbon and area figures should be read as single-source, developer-stated pending an independently verifiable VCS registration.
