Inside the project
Talia restores 828 hectares of critically degraded Drooping Sheoak grassy woodland on the Eyre Peninsula in South Australia through native environmental plantings.
It is delivered by Land Life and Carbon2Nature (Iberdrola) with Cassinia Environmental and the Wirangu and Nauo Aboriginal Corporation, under the Australian ACCU scheme and Emissions Reduction Fund.
The project is expected to generate around 137,200 ACCUs over a 100-year project life, secured by an in-perpetuity Heritage Agreement, and creates a biolink connecting the Gawler Ranges to the coast alongside Traditional Owner co-benefits.
Objectives
- Restore 828 hectares of critically degraded Drooping Sheoak grassy woodland with native environmental plantings.
- Establish a biolink connecting the Gawler Ranges to the coast to support biodiversity.
- Deliver Traditional Owner co-benefits under a 100-year, in-perpetuity Heritage Agreement.
Approach
- Revegetate with native environmental plantings targeting Drooping Sheoak grassy woodland.
- Register under the ACCU scheme and Emissions Reduction Fund for reforestation by environmental plantings.
- Lock in permanence through an in-perpetuity Heritage Agreement and co-design co-benefits with the Wirangu and Nauo Traditional Owners.
