Overview

Inside the project

Riau Ecosystem Restoration is led by APRIL Group with Fauna & Flora International, BIDARA and Laskar Alam on the Kampar Peninsula and Padang Island in Riau, Sumatra, Indonesia.

It restores and protects 150,693 hectares of terrestrial peat-swamp forest (not mangrove) that is home to threatened species, operating under ecosystem-restoration concession licenses.

The programme is a 100 million USD, 10-year corporate commitment and is funded directly rather than issued as a VCS carbon project, making it one of Southeast Asia's largest private-sector-funded restoration programmes.
