Nuru Goma 1 solar-hybrid mini-grid
Nuru, originally Kivu Green Energy, founded in 2015, operates the 1.3 MW Goma 1 solar-hybrid mini-grid in DRC's North Kivu province, which MIGA's press release calls 'the largest off-grid mini-grid in sub-Saharan Africa'.

Overview
Inside the project
The company is expanding toward a combined capacity of up to 39 MW across Goma, Beni, Tadu and Faradje, aiming to serve roughly 28,000 households and businesses.
The World Bank's MIGA arm issued a $50.3m political-risk guarantee in December 2023 and IFC committed $10m in mezzanine equity, on top of Nuru's own claimed reduction of over 9,000 tonnes of CO2 a year.
