Overview

Inside the project

Funding comes from the UK government's Blue Planet Fund, running 2024-2027.

The Foundation's own description frames the work as building a comprehensive monitoring system to track mangrove growth, health and carbon capture, alongside restoration through seedling planting and reopening blocked tidal channels.

Objectives

  • Develop the Dominican Republic's first Blue Carbon Exchange mechanism
  • Conserve and restore mangrove forests

Approach

  • Mangrove monitoring, seedling planting and tidal-channel restoration, funded by the UK's Blue Planet Fund.
