Adiaké Blue Carbon
Adiaké Blue Carbon restores coastal forest near Ehotile Islands National Park on Côte d'Ivoire's southeast coast. Launched at COP15 in Abidjan in May 2022, it is developed by AGRO-MAP (Ivorian) and Blue Forest (UAE). Phase 1 restores 2,600 ha with 100,000+ mangrove seedlings and 60,000 agroforestry trees, benefiting around 1,200 smallholders. Phase 2 aims for 10,000 ha, billed as potentially West Africa's largest blue carbon project.

Inside the project
The project restores coastal forest at Adiaké, near Ehotile Islands National Park, and was launched at COP15 Abidjan in May 2022.
Phase 1 targets 2,600 ha with over 100,000 mangrove seedlings and 60,000 agroforestry trees, benefiting around 1,200 smallholders.
It is early-stage: the developers intend to sell voluntary-market carbon credits but hold no registry yet. The project was selected under TerraFund for AFR100. Phase 2 would extend restoration to 10,000 ha, described as potentially West Africa's largest blue carbon project.
Objectives
- Restore 2,600 ha of coastal forest in Phase 1
- Establish 100,000+ mangrove seedlings and 60,000 agroforestry trees
- Benefit around 1,200 smallholders
- Scale to 10,000 ha in Phase 2
- Secure a registry pathway toward voluntary-market credits
Approach
- The project combines mangrove replanting with agroforestry and smallholder engagement, and intends to sell voluntary-market credits once a registry pathway is secured. It was selected under TerraFund for AFR100, but no certification is in place yet.
- Phase 2 targets a scale-up to 10,000 ha.
